WALLENIUS WILHELMSEN EARNS SECOND CONSECUTIVE ECOVADIS GOLD RATING

Wallenius Wilhelmsen has been awarded a Gold Medal rating from ESG rater EcoVadis for the second consecutive year.

Global Logistics Leader Named ‘Carbon Management Leader’ for Strong Decarbonization Commitments

Wallenius Wilhelmsen has been awarded a Gold Medal rating from ESG rater EcoVadis for the second consecutive year. The achievement recognizes the company’s commitment to high sustainability standards across its global supply chain operations, placing it in the top 5% of all companies evaluated by EcoVadis worldwide.

EcoVadis, a prominent provider of business sustainability ratings, uses a comprehensive questionnaire process to assess management systems. Its scorecards provide detailed insights into environmental, social, and ethical risks across 220 purchasing categories and 180 countries. For Wallenius Wilhelmsen, the 2025 rating serves as an external validation of its risk management systems and its integration of sustainability principles into core policies.

Recognized as a Carbon Management Leader

In addition to the Gold rating, Wallenius Wilhelmsen has been named a Carbon Management Leader in 2025. This specific assessment ranks companies on their greenhouse gas (GHG) management practices, categorizing them from “Insufficient” to “Leader.”

The “Leader” designation is reserved for organizations that demonstrate best-in-class decarbonization actions, reporting capabilities, and a robust management system for carbon emissions. Jonathan Spampinato, Senior Manager Sustainability at Wallenius Wilhelmsen, attributed this recognition to the company’s detailed transition plans and the work conducted by its operational teams and the Orcelle Accelerator team.

Industry-Leading Performance Metrics

The 2025 EcoVadis assessment highlights Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s strong positioning within the maritime and logistics sectors. The company’s performance data indicates:

Overall Standing: Ranked in the top 5% of all rated companies globally.

Industry Specifics: Ranked in the top 3% of the Sea & Coastal Water Transport industry.

Social Responsibility: Labor & Human Rights scores reached the top 1% of the industry.

Anette Rønnov, Chief Sustainability Officer at Wallenius Wilhelmsen, stated that the rating provides customers and partners with confidence that the company is managing environmental, ethical, and regulatory risks responsibly. She noted that because EcoVadis evaluates the maturity of management systems rather than just annual performance, the consecutive Gold status demonstrates a consistent standard essential for supply chain resilience.

Supporting Global ESG Compliance

The high rating supports the ESG commitments and reporting obligations of Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s partners. As global regulations such as the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and U.S. climate disclosure rules increase, having a Gold-rated supplier provides credible, third-party data. This alignment assists customers in meeting their own goals for carbon reduction and responsible sourcing.

The company continues to advance its decarbonization efforts through initiatives like the Orcelle Accelerator, aiming to lead the transition toward zero-emission shipping and logistics solutions.
