Recap: Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) and the UK Government - first of three roadshows to introduce the Viet Nam National Trade Repository (VNTR) project

Expectedly going live later in March, VNTR will be a free-to-access online information portal, that will provide all the latest trade information in both English and Vietnamese.

The first of the three Roadshows on the Viet Nam National Trade Repository (VNTR) took place in Ho Chi Minh City on the 17th of February 2022. Expectedly going live later in March, VNTR will be a free-to-access online information portal, that will provide all the latest trade information in both English and Vietnamese.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh Nga, Deputy Director General of the Multilateral Trade Policy Department - the @Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), and Mr. Sam Wood, Deputy Consul General and Head of Trade & Investment - British Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, emphasized the importance of VNTR in fulfilling Viet Nam’s commitment as a member of ASEAN Economic Community, and acknowledged its significance to not only the Vietnam-UK bilateral economic relationship but also Vietnam’s trade flows with other partners.

Mr. Trevor O'Regan, Team Leader for the VNTR project, concluded the day with the remark on the sustainability as the paramount concern for the VNTR. “It is essential that information provided by the VNTR is both comprehensive and kept up to date and also that the VNTR is promoted widely to potential users of this free online source in both English and Vietnamese.”.
