With the changes, MSC aims to improve interconnectivity and transit times between Southeast Asia, China and the US West Coast.
The new rotation of the service will be as follows:
Port Klang (Malaysia) – Singapore (Asia) – Laem Chabang (Thailand) – Vung Tau (Vietnam) – Busan (South Korea) – Long Beach (US) – Oakland (US) – Busan – Qingdao (China) – Shanghai (China) – Ningbo (China) – Shekou (China) – Singapore – Colombo (Sri Lanka) – Mundra (India) – Nhava Sheva (India) – Colombo – Port Klang
The port of Haiphong in Vietnam will no longer exist in the Sentosa port rotation, but will continue to connect to the service via Busan.
MSC said that transit time from Busan to Long Beach will be 12 days, while Mundra to Long Beach will need 40 days.
The first vessel on this new rotation will be the 11,336 TEU MSC Francesca with voyage number FV336A, due to arrive in Port Klang on 5 September 2023.
