WAN HAI ORDERS FIVE NEW 13,100 TEU CONTAINER VESSELS

The Asian container carrier Wan Hai Lines has confirmed the order of five 13,100 TEU container ships at Samsung Heavy Industries.

The contract between the two companies was signed today (25 March 2022) and the newbuildings will start taking delivery in 2024.

This action comes after a similar order of thirteen 13,100 TEU vessels that Wan Hai made in 2021 at the same shipyard.

"These new builds are energy efficient and meet the requirements of latest environmental regulations. They are also certified with “Smart Ship” notations," said Wan Hai in a statement.

Currently, the Taiwan-headquartered box line operates a fleet of 146 container ships.
